VirusTotal Uploader is a free application that allows you to easily scan suspicious files and url addresses using the popular VirusTotal online service. Upon submission, your file will be analyzed by a number of today's best antivirus services and you will be provided with real-time results.

It's a must-have application for keeping your computer safe from viruses and other threats that may comprise your system security. However, Internet threats are constantly evolving and some viruses can't be detected by antivirus software alone. These viruses, commonly known as stealth malware, operate in a secret manner and don't even appear as visible processes.

Google is now trying to beef up Mac security with a tool that makes it easy to upload suspicious files for scanning with the VirusTotal service. VirusTotal Uploader lets you right-click on any file and select the appropriate option from its context menu to start a scan.

During the scan, the software will display the results from fifty or so antivirus apps, and you'll be able to click through the results to see which ones flagged the file as suspicious.

This feature is particularly helpful for active malware samples that may keep running in the system as processes or urls. The program also includes an Upload process executable button that will search and read the executable file and send it to VirusTotal for analysis.

VirusTotal Uploader is a promising piece of software that could be improved in some ways. Among other things, it needs to be enhanced in the areas of functionality and support for files over 32 MB.
